Danavir 600mg Tablet (Darunavir 600mg)
Description
Danavir 600mg contains Darunavir, an antiretroviral drug used in the treatment of HIV-1 infection and AIDS.
-
Due to the risk of resistance, Darunavir is always administered in combination with other antiretroviral drugs such as Ritonavir or Cobicistat.
-
Darunavir is a protease inhibitor, blocking the HIV protease enzyme, preventing the formation of mature, infectious viral particles.
Medical Uses / Indications
-
HIV-1 infection in adults (in combination with Ritonavir, Cobicistat, or other antiretroviral drugs).
-
Pediatric HIV-1 infection (Darunavir + Ritonavir combination).
-
Therapy decisions are guided by plasma HIV-1 RNA levels and CD4+ counts.
Mechanism of Action
-
Darunavir inhibits HIV-1 protease, an enzyme essential for viral replication.
-
Prevents dimerization and catalytic activity of the protease.
-
Blocks cleavage of viral Gag-Pol polyproteins, preventing the production of mature infectious virus.
-
Its molecular flexibility allows it to remain effective against protease mutations.

-
Diabetes mellitus: Monitor blood glucose; may increase glucose levels.
-
Fat redistribution: Risk of obesity; common in antiretroviral therapy.
-
Immune reconstitution syndrome: May occur; discontinue therapy if severe.
Contraindications / Drug Interactions

-
Alfuzosin → hypotension
-
Dihydroergotamine → peripheral vasospasm/ischemia
-
Cisapride & Pimozide → cardiac arrhythmias
